My Adventure To Surprise Part 6

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 31st, 2018:

I woke up around 9:00 am and just hung around the house all day.

Anyway, it was a little bit of a relaxing day for me. Around 9:30 pm, I coded and got ready for bed (regardless, I was very tired). I hit the pillows late that night again (What I mean by that is I fell asleep).

June 1st, 2018:

I woke up around 7:00 am. Anyway, I took my time waiting for Patty to be done in their bedroom. Before breakfast, Frank said, “Happy National Donut Day” as I told him the day before. After breakfast, I wrote a lot. After lunch, I had a bit of fun swimming.

I also wanted to add that I finished a blog post which is: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/01/how-donuts-came-to-be/ sometime that day.

After swimming, I got dressed and had Frank get the powdered donut out of the donut package (we got them sometime that week). After dinner, I talked to Patty and Frank some.

Anyway, I started getting ready for bed after a conversation with Patty and Frank. Afterward, I got in the bed around 10:00 pm even though I stayed up way later than that. Shortly around 12:30 pm, I fell asleep.

My Adventure To Surprise Part 5

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 30th, 2018:

I woke up early as planned. After I ate breakfast, I tried on the swimsuit and other clothing. Then, we got ready to go to Wal-Mart to look at clothing. We also winded up finding a huge blue ball that we took with us. We were back at 1:00 pm so it gave me enough time to eat lunch and rest a little afterward.

When Katie arrived, I had Frank open the door and let her in. After Katie’s mother left, I quickly grabbed my swimsuit from the bedroom and quickly went into the restroom to change.

After I came out, I went back to the bedroom and got my sunglasses. I took a glance at what Katie gave me before I took the shea butter and slathered it on the back of the legs.

Once I got on the first step of the pool, Patty helped me down one more time. Frank helped me down to the last step before the pool floor.

When I was ready, Katie offered her hand to help me down to the last step and it was unexpectedly a little deep but Frank asked if I wanted a pool noodle and I said Yes.

We insisted that Frank get in the water too so he did.  Anyway, I went swimming with a pool noodle up under me. After 2 hours we got out and air dried. We got dressed in different rooms.

After Katie and I changed back into clothing, we went to the room I was staying in while I was visiting and played 1 round of UNO™ with the UNO deck of cards that she brought.

Afterward, Katie and I watched Youtube videos together. Although, at one point she played a bowling game. Anyway at 5:00 pm, Katie left but not before having Patty taking a picture of us.

After Katie left, I waited for dinner to be ready by playing games on my phones. After dinner, I just messaged Camilla Downs about the fun time I had with Katie.

Around 9:34 pm, I took a picture of what Katie gave me. After that, I went to go do my schedule and got into bed around 10:00 pm but didn’t go to sleep until early in the morning the next day.

My Adventure To Surprise Part 4

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 28th, 2018:

I woke up at 9:00 am and since that day was Memorial Day I just hung around their house all day until lunch and dinner. I also worked on a blog post: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/04/fundraising-for-the-2018-chromosome-18-family-conference-rainbow-mandala/. After dinner, I just hung out some until 12:00 am that night. After I got in the bed, I read and played games on my phones until around 12:30 am.

May 29th, 2018:

I woke up early again. I just hung around the house for a while and was very excited to hang out with Katie the next day. Anyway, I made plans to try my new swimsuit on in the morning and Patty and I also made plans to go to Walmart to look for clothing.

I also worked on a blog post which is: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/04/fundraising-for-the-2018-chromosome-18-family-conference-rainbow-mandala/ while I was down visiting Patty and Frank (the Romano Duo).

I stayed awake late but made sure to wake up early enough to give me enough time in the morning. So, I went to sleep.

My Adventure To Surprise Part 3

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 27th, 2018:

I woke up not knowing where I was for a second then decided to look on my phone and time said 7:00 am so I just laid there until 7:30 am and then I went to the restroom. Afterward, I had Patty make my brunch (since it was almost lunch time) and I ate it all.

After I finished, we went to Kohl’s and found me some new clothing. After I got back, I was hungry so I ate a snack. It was 4:58 pm when I finished my snack. Luckily though, we didn’t eat dinner until 6:00 pm.

About the same time I was eating the snack, I worked on a blog post: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/05/29/fundraising-for-the-2018-chromosome-18-family-conference-rainbow-of-emotions/. I also arranged to see one of my friends named Katie who lived in Glendale, AZ at around 6:00 with help from Patty and Camilla. So I was excited about that.

After that, I went back to what I was doing (which was coding). After, I waited until midnight to do my schedule. So it was around 1:00 am when I went to bed that night but I stayed awake until 2:00 am that night.

My Adventure To Surprise Part 2

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 26th, 2018:

I woke up at 7:00 am that day giving me enough time to get ready to go and eat some of my breakfast. After I got almost halfway done with my morning routine, Patty went outside and said she saw donkeys (burros) across the dirt road eating grass at an empty park.

Patty wanted to know if I wanted to see the donkeys and I said sure. And sure enough, I saw the donkeys. Anyway at 10:00 am PDST, Frank of the Romano Duo (my grandfather) and Patty, as well as me, were ready to be on our way to Surprise again.

So we got back in the car, I was mostly quiet but when we passed Las Vegas and Hoover Dam Frank said, “We’ll be passing the Nevada border soon.” I said, “Yes, I know.” as I already been through there twice.

Around 12:15 pm (my preferred lunchtime) to 1:00 pm, we stopped in Kingman, AZ to go to the restroom in Burger In-N-Out and Patty had Frank go get me some french fries. After he was done, Frank drove over to the nearest gas station so Patty could get the rest of the food for me and get gas for Frank and Patty’s car.

After 13 minutes, we were in Arizona desert. Eventually, at 1:27, I asked Patty and Frank for the estimated time we had left and Frank said, “At least 2 hours or 1 and a half hours.” At that point, I mentally started a time check and looked out the window for the first sign of Surprise, AZ.

Around 2:44 pm, I asked again and Frank said, “Less than an hour.” as 3:00 pm was getting closer and I was very excited. At 2:50 pm, there were only 16 minutes left until we arrived. At 2:58 pm, there were 10 minutes left. At 3:00 pm, I was looking out the window at Surprise, AZ.

At 3:10 pm, we arrived in Surprise, AZ. My calmness returned when I stepped into Patty’s and Frank’s house but I needed to go to the restroom so I had Patty show me the master bathroom.

Anyway, when I was just talking to Patty in Patty and Frank’s bedroom, my uncle Robert  (who I never met) walked in to say he needed to go to the grocery store. Finally, he noticed and Patty introduced us.

I was kind of shy at first (I usually can be but it doesn’t last long). Fortunately, Patty had to go to Trader Joe’s to find the stuff on the list and I volunteered to go with them. So we all got in the car to Trader Joe’s and Wal-Mart (don’t really care for Wal-Mart).

Surprisingly, we were back at the house in 30 minutes. Anyway, I asked Patty for her laptop so I could easily code and look at Accuweather. Of course at 4:00 pm or more, Patty and Frank started making dinner. We had dinner at 7:00 pm though.

After the dinner, I decided to chill out and rest some while talking to Patty and Frank. After some time had passed, I went ahead and got ready for bed. Of course, I stayed up late (that happened the whole time). Once, I got into bed I read and played games on my phones until 12:30 am when I got up to put my water away.

After I turned out the light and my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep immediately.

I borrowed the photo from Google Images… A burro in Beatty

My Adventure To Surprise Part 1

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

May 25th, 2018:

Once my grandparents and I left Reno, I felt very active and I started talking about stuff like the conference, places, cities, Surprise, AZ and thinking of silly names for cities.

For example, Surprise was Palm Tree Land while Reno was Tree Land. Anyway, we stopped in Hawthorne as a rest stop and get my lunch out (which was prepared by Camilla before we left). After we left Hawthorne, I continued talking and eventually offered my grandmother Patty of the Romano Duo to help me guess what word the 2 pictures were (it was a game I downloaded on to my phone before I left).

After a little while, I got bored so I took a lot of selfies. I also found out that their car had a GPS built into the car and a little cord you could plug up an old GPS with.  Anyway, around 4:43 pm PDST we arrived at Beatty, NV. We spent the night at Death Valley Inn & RV Park which was nice.

After dinner, the sun was still up so Patty and I decided to have a walk around the hotel. After the short walk, we decided to see if they had any fruit juice liked at the Family Dollar Store across the dirt road.

Oddly, they had fruit juice among other things too. After we finished there, we went back to the hotel (more like a motel) and started my night time schedule. After Patty went to sleep, I went to sleep around 12:30 am (yes, I know that can be late but it helped me get up at a certain time) that night.

The Hummingbird Fairy Wings

Hey, everyone! I got the idea to write a story about a hummingbird when my grandmother Patty of the Romano Duo remarked,”The hummingbird wings look like little fairy wings.” in Surprise, AZ when I was visiting Surprise, AZ. Thank you, Patty! Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Once many years ago, there lived a hummingbird named Abby who was very curious. One day, Abby wondered, “Why do I have such small wings?”. So Abby asked her mother and her mother responded, “Well, there was a fairy named Rebecca who was very curious just like you, Abby.”

Abby’s mother paused for effect. Abby’s mother continued her story,”One day, Rebecca saw some flowers that had delicious nectar and she starting eating nectar. Suddenly, Rebecca noticed a sudden tingling coming from her wings. ”

Abby’s mother smiled and stopped to catch her breath. Abby said impatiently,”Hurry up, mother! I want to hear more of the story.” Abby’s mother said, “Ok, I was just catching my breath.”

“Rebecca wondered what was happening and asked her mother what happened. And like me, her mother told her the answer through a story. By the time her mother finished the story, Rebecca turned into a hummingbird.”, said Abby’s mother knowingly.

“So Rebecca went to a wizard to get a special spell that would allow her to swap back and forth between a fairy and a hummingbird. And she still can be found today as a fairy and hummingbird.”, explained Abby’s mother. After Abby’s mother finished her story, her mother asked, “Would you like to know a secret?”.

Abby said excitedly, “Yes, please!”. So her mother said, “I am Rebecca. That is my secret now.” Rebecca laughed when Abby said, “I knew there was something magical and musical in you.”

If you see a hummingbird, that may be Rebecca or Abby flying by. Anyway, that’s the end of the story. I hope you enjoyed!

Fundraising for the 2018 Chromosome 18 Family Conference – In Summary

Hey, everyone! I have exciting news!

I’ve decided to sell prints or copies of the my artwork to fundraise and help my family attend the annual Chromosome 18 conference. The print will be about an 8 X 10 size or smaller (depending on which print) and mounted on foam board or similar ready to hang.

The Chromosome 18 conference helps me get over my fears and my emotions. It helps me feel brave, courageous, and enjoyable. Here’s an example: Last year in July when my family and I were inside the airport, I was fearful, nervous, tired, and afraid; yet, the view I got from the airplane was amazing and it was all worth it.

The really fun part is that YOU get to choose your own price! The base price is of $15 – $25 to cover cost of printing, mounting, and shipping (US Only – Our overseas friends can email my mom at Camilla Downs @ gmail.com if you’re interested in purchasing a print).

Use this Paypal link and enter your own amount over the $25 base price. For example, if you want to donate $50 towards my fundraiser, then you would enter $75. Go here.

OR …. If you simply want a photo quality print (minus the mounting), the base price is $15 to cover cost of printing and shipping. For example, if you wish to donate $25 to my fundraiser, then you would enter $40. Use this Paypal link. (Please note whether you want “Just the Print” or “Mounted Print”)

Here are your choices:

1.) The Egyptian Eye

2.) Rainbow of Emotions

3.) Rainbow Mandala

4.) Happy World

5.) Hot Air Balloon

Use this Paypal link and enter your own amount over the $25 base price. For example, if you want to donate $50 towards my fundraiser, then you would enter $75. Go here.

(Please note which print you would like to have and whether you want “Just the Print” or “Mounted Print”)

The Chromosome 18 conference means a lot to me because I get to meet new friends and spend time with old friends. It also means a lot to me because I get to travel to a new city with my family.

I want to check out the swimming pool and have fun with new and old friends. I also want to explore the city if the weather and temperature are good. I also want to check out new restaurants.

Here’s a story I wrote about the Happy World from June 2016:

Happy World

One day, a bird picked up a seed to eat. A few minutes later, the bird decided that it wasn’t the right seed. The bird threw it back down. That was the beginning of the Happy World.

As the years past, the tree grew until it had several branches and a strong trunk. The strong tree became known as the Happy Tree. The Happy Tree decided to produce a seed. The seed grew with happiness and love. One day, the seed blossomed into a young beautiful tree that didn’t grow much after that point.

The young tree became known as the Amazing Beauty Tree. The Amazing Beauty Tree saw the Happy Tree. Suddenly, she realized that she wanted to know who produced her. She asked the Happy Tree if it was him who planted her. He said yes and Amazing Beauty wanted to produce a seed of her own.

She let the bird fly the seed to the Happy World. The seed became a thin beautiful conifer tree. The tree produced identical seeds until there was almost no room to plant seeds. After that the trees started planting grass seeds. After the grass had grown, there was no room to plant seeds.

A few years later, the several earthquakes that would become the mountains shook the world. The trees, birds, and grass survived. They noticed something different about the landscape and they saw triangular tall figures. They soon realized that they had saw a mountain. About the same time, their roots filled with water and animals.

One year later, humans discovered the Happy World and decided to make a small town out of it. They also made cars, rockets, and kites. The sun, clouds, rain, hail, snow, and thunderstorms were always there but they were nicer than outside of the Happy World. Everyone lived happily. If you go into a forest, you will realize that the Happy World is the forest.

Here’s a 2nd story inspired by The Happy World (the sequel of The Happy World):

Savannah and Her Friends

Once long ago, there lived a bird named Savannah who loved her forest. Savannah liked to call the forest The Happy World. One day, she flew into her friend (known as the Happy Tree).

The Happy Tree was very wise and loved it’s home as well. When the Happy Tree saw Savannah coming, the Happy Tree said, “Hey there, Savannah! I haven’t seen you in a while.” Savannah said with a laugh, “Hey, Happy Tree! I know. I’ve been making sure everything has been okay in the forest.”

“I know, I’ve seen you fly overhead.”, said the Happy Tree. “Oh, look at the time. I got to fly. Bye, Happy Tree!”, said Savannah. “Ok. Bye, Savannah!”, said the Happy Tree and waved with one of his leafy branches.

Savannah continued and noticed her friends. So she landed and said, “Hello! I saw you all down here and thought I would stop by to say Hello.” Her friends said, “Hey, Savannah! We knew you would like always.”

Savannah said, “Sorry, I’ve got to go now. I’m so tired that I feel like collapsing. ” Her friends said, “Ok, we know just how you feel. Bye!”. So if you see a bird flying, that may be Savannah or one of her friends.

That’s the end of the story.

Here’s a story inspired by how I feel about attending the Chromosome 18 Conference:

Once many years, a little girl named Rainbow loved traveling to new places. One day, Rainbow decided to write a story. “Hello! My name is Rainbow. My family and I have been going to a conference called Party Dancers for many years”, wrote Rainbow.

One day at the Party Dancers, she faced many fears in just 1 day. Rainbow was very determined to conquer more fears. A couple of years later at the Party Dancers, Rainbow met a friend she connected with through Bookworm the previous year and had so much fun. Rainbow knew many friends and people that year.

Rainbow even tried to get in the cold pool. This year, Rainbow was pumped to go to the Party Dancers again since she found out most of her friends would be at the Party Dancers. Rainbow traveled to Sugary Land for the Party Dancers.

Again, Rainbow met the same friend again and chatted and had fun. Now, Rainbow was pumped to go to the next Party Dancers conference. Rainbow finished her story and sent it off to the publisher.

The publisher was very impressed. Many years past and Rainbow’s story was now a best seller book.

That’s the end of the 2nd story.

Fundraising for the 2018 Chromosome 18 Family Conference – Rainbow Mandala

Hey, everyone! Remember in previous years when I sold prints or copies of my abstract art? I have exciting news!

Here’s a story inspired by Rainbow Mandala:

Once there lived a mandala artist named Artistique (Artistique’s nickname was Elsa) who loved to draw on her mandala pad. One day, her friend who was named Paintaroo (nicknamed Angel) said, “Hey, Elsa! What are you doing?”.

“Hey, Angel! I’m drawing a new mandala on my mandala pad”, said Elsa with a big smile on her face. “Wow, that’s awesome!”, exclaimed Angel. “Angel, would you like to help me with my biggest wall mandala painting?”, asked Elsa with a laugh.

“Elsa, I’m honored. Yes, I’ll help you especially since you are my friend and because I’m a good painter.”, says Angel with a big smile. “I’m happy to hear you say that, Angel! You are my best friend.”, squealed Elsa with excitement and hugged Angel.

So Elsa and Angel picked out two colors and started painting the background colors which were  black and navy blue. After Elsa and Angel finished painting the background colors, they started discussing shapes and other designs for the inside of the mandala.

Elsa and Angel agreed on swirls and triangles but they also agreed to paint whatever design or shape they wanted. Elsa and Angel went back to painting and decided to stop in the middle of the center.

Once Elsa and Angel stopped, they discussed what they should do for the middle. A hour later, Elsa suggested that they draw a star and a swirl in the star. Angel liked the idea so much she squealed.

A couple of hours later, Elsa and Anna finished the mandala. They stood back to admire the mandala. So to this day, Elsa and Anna’s mandala is in the Hall of Mandalas as a separate wall where you can admire their teamwork on painting.

That’s the end of the story.

Here’s a story inspired by how I feel about attending the Chromosome 18 Conference:
