The Annual Chromosome Conference 2019: Part 1

Hey, everyone! I just got back to Colorado Springs from the conference on July 27th. This blog post is a summary of what I did at the annual Chromosome 18p- conference this year. In case you are wondering, these are Thomas’s, Camilla’s, mine, and Chromosome 18’s website.

Here are some related blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/07/06/annual-chromosome-18-conference-2018-part-1/https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/15/my-adventure-to-surprise-part-1/https://lilliandarnell.com/2017/09/13/annual-chromosome-18p-conference-2017/ I hope you enjoy!

July 18th:

I woke up at 5:00 am but since my mother, Camilla bumped the start of the road trip to 7:00 am, I attempted to fall back to sleep.

But since I couldn’t sleep, I simply rested until 5:30am when Camilla came and got me. Then I got most of my last minute things to pack out of our bedroom.

Thomas woke up shortly after I did and used his supposedly 1 hour of free time to go to the restroom while I used mine to take a quick bath.

Afterwards, Camilla started packing up the car (we like to call her Rosie for her red color) which took approximately 2 hours.

Once we got in the car, Camilla went to our local Sprout’s grocery store to grab some ice packs for our 2 ice coolers.

Once Camilla was done, we were on our way to Colorado Springs. We went through Sparks, NV all way to Winnemucca where we stopped for gas and to go to the restroom.

At one point, we went through Battle Mountain. I also had some homemade trail mix at one point. The homemade trail mix had golden raisins, marshmallows, chocolate, cereal, graham crackers, honey sesame seed cashews, cashews, dried apricot, dried banana, banana chips, dried strawberry, and dried pineapple. I ate half of it.

After that, we went almost all the way through the border of Nevada/Utah but we stopped in Wells, NV to get our lunch from the back of the car, get gas, and go to the restroom.

After that, we kept going on the highway. We drove by Wendover and switched over to the Mountain Timezone (Yay!!).

Then shortly after, we started seeing the Salt Flats. Then about an hour afterward, we saw some small sections of The Great Salt Lake.

After some time, we saw the Great Lake. Then we went off the highway toward Salt Lake City heading toward Provo, Utah.

Although, we got stuck in some traffic jams & construction halfway through Salt Lake City. After we got through the accidents, we were almost to Provo, Utah. When we arrived in Provo, the hotel we stayed in was in view.

The hotel was Holiday Inn Provo River/Springville Area. So after we got some essential stuff we needed out of the car, we headed up to our hotel room. For a little bit, we settled down.

We eventually went to a nearby Denny’s for dinner. Once we got back, it was 2 hours later. Then I got ready for bed and went to sleep at 1:00 am.

I had decided to use one of the hotel pillows up under the pillow I brought from home and that was very comfortable.

I had messaged Macy who is a very close friend of mine throughout the first part of the road trip.

Me taking a picture of my shadow before the conference. Taken by me.

Adventures Of Marigold Springs

Hey, everyone! I’ve been so excited (almost bursting to the top with excitement) that the Annual Chromosome 18 conference is coming up so fast so to help me with a little bit of excitement, I wrote this story. Here are some related blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/07/06/annual-chromosome-18-conference-2018-part-1/https://lilliandarnell.com/2017/09/13/annual-chromosome-18p-conference-2017/ , and https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/15/my-adventure-to-surprise-part-1/ if you want to take a look. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Once many years ago, there was a time when Marigold Springs was called Magnolia Springs. Magnolia Springs had a girl named Marcella (Marie for short) and she wanted to travel to far off places to have daring cliffs and a never-ending basin of poisoned water.

More importantly, Marie longed for daring adventure. While Marie longed for adventure, her family longed to set up a cute little craft maker in the park. Hold on, why not, you ask?

Well, her family were so poor that they scarcely were able to enjoy food and water. Marie was stuck worrying about the money but when she had some time, Marigold would daydream about her adventures.

Marie even shared one of her adventures her mind took her to her mother. “That would a great story, sweetie. Maybe you could write it down.”, said Goldie (also known as Candy and Marie’s mother).

So that is what Marie did. So all was good as it could be. Until one day, there was a knock at the door. Goldie was thinking about something when the knock sounded and she was startled by the sound.

Goldie then said, “I’ll get it”. But secretly, Goldie wondered who it was. So when Goldie opened the door, she got a huge shock. There at the door stood a young woman about Goldie’s age and she asked for Marie.

Once Goldie got over her shock, she said, “Come in, dear. May I ask what your name is and how do you know my daughter?” The young woman stepped inside gratefully and said, “I am the Princess of Longing, Desire & Adventure but you can call me Rose or Princess Rose.”

“I know Marie from her daydreams. In fact, I am the one who gave her those daydreams. She’s also seen me in her daydreams and she even wrote about me”, said Princess Rose.

“Really? I’m flattered because I was the one who told her to write it down. Oh excuse me, where are my manners? I am Goldie, Your Highness. Ok, I’ll call you Princess Rose.”, said Goldie as she curtsies. “Marie, we have a visitor!”, said Goldie.

Marie hurriedly ran downstairs and she gasped when she saw Princess Rose. “You’re real! I can’t believe it.”, said Marie. Princess Rose chuckled politely at Marie’s excitement.

Princess Rose said to Marie, “The reason I came was I heard that you were longing for adventure. Lucky for you, I’m the princess of adventure, desire, and longing.” To the rest of Marigold’s family and Goldie, Rose said, “The reason I came here was I heard that this family longed to have a cute little craft maker in the park. Is that true?”

“Yes, very true.”, said Marie and her family. Princess Rose pulled Marie to the side and said, “How would you be like to be my adventurous explorer? If so, what should I call you for a nickname?”

Marie’s eyes went wide and said, “Yes, yes, yes! And I would like to have Marigold as my nickname, please. ”

Princess Rose said with a giggle, “Alright, Marigold! Let’s go!” Princess Rose gasped and said, “I forgot to tell Goldie something. ” Princess Rose said, “Goldie, here take this money so you and your family can make that cute craft maker of yours.”

Goldie looked at Princess Rose with glee and said, “Thank you! Thank you!” Princess Rose said, “Your welcome. Now, I really must go. Goodbye, all!” So Marigold and Princess Rose set off to explore in adventurous places.

They visited Salt Candy City, Peace Land, Desert World, Fern Land, and more. Many years later, Marigold returned home on her own to Magnolia Springs but to her surprise, the town’s name changed to Marigold Springs after her.

Marigold was very grateful for her hometown’s appreciation for her. She noticed a cute craft maker in the park. Her sister’s daughter was running it now. Marigold eventually settled down temporarily and during that time she got married to her friend, Astrid.

Then they traveled together all over the world. So if you see Marigold or Marie and Astrid, say hello to them and chat with them.

beautiful marigold.

That’s the end of the story! I hope you all enjoyed! What’s your favorite part of my story? If it feels right, I would love to hear your answers in the comments.

Peaceful Summer

Hey, everyone! This is a poem I wrote for someone in Tasmania, Australia on June 7th, 2019. Here are some related blog posts; https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/06/15/how-the-sombrero-hat-came-to-be/,  https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/06/01/how-liana-and-summer-came-to-be-best-friends/, and https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/05/20/my-dream-story/. I hope you enjoy!

Stars shine bright

as diamonds in the sky.

Stars dance all night long

like a bird flapping its wings.

Stars wink at the Moon

like the ocean waves to the Sun.

The moon shines down

as silver in the night sky.

The moon brightens at the Sun

like gold glimmers in the sand.

The Sun glides gracefully

as a swan swimming.

The Sun blushes when the Ocean

shows the Sun’s reflection

as bright as sparkly snow.

The ocean gently whispers

Into my ear like a seashell.

Sun

That’s the end of the poem. I hope you enjoyed! What’s your favorite summer thing? I would love to hear your answers!

My Dream Story

Hey, everyone! On the night of September 1st, I had this crazy and interesting dream. The dream is fictionalized. The main characters are based on me, Macy Miller (a close 18p- friend of mine), Camilla Downs (my mother), and Caitlin Fuetsch (a  local friend of mine).  Here are some related stories: https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/05/10/how-macy-and-i-met/https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/04/26/the-road-to-heaven/, and https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/07/09/a-brave-girl/. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Once many years ago, Anne was playfully jumping on some stepping stones designed to look like flowers. Many years past and Anne was now sleeping peacefully and was dreaming. Meanwhile, there was a hidden dream cam in her brain recording her dream.

Anne’s dream got posted online by mistake. So the very next day Anne decided to show the dream. Anne said, “Are you ready to watch my recording of a dream?” and the audience responded, “Yes!”.

Anne said, “Ok. 1…2…3!!! Enjoy!”. Anne settled down to watch with them. Anne saw herself on a floor at a school laying on her pillow. Her friend, Macy Helens was sitting cross-legged next to her as they listened to announcements.

Charity said, “I told you the pillow moved around”. So Anne shifted the pillow she was laying on. After the announcements, Anne had 1 class about art while Macy Helens had 3 classes that consisted of nature, summer, and space as well.

After Anne’s class ended, Anne walked by Macy’s classroom and Macy invited me to join her. Anne said, “Yes. Thank you!”. When Anne went into the classroom and it had been a while, Kaitlin Rose came in with Macy’s teacher, Annabelle and Anne’s face expressed surprise and shock due to seeing Kaitlin for the first time in years but Anne remained calm.

Anne got up to turn on the lights and to end the dream for them. Anne said,” That’s when I woke up.” to the audience. After Anne said her sentence, the audience clapped, whistled, threw roses, and some even shouted things like, “Well done!” and “Great job!”.

Afterward, Anne went into her home to eat some popsicles. And all was well in Anne’s home. Anyway, that’s the end of this fictionalized dream!

The Road To Heaven

Hey, everyone! On September 3rd last year (2018), I saw a mysterious road on a road trip. Here are some related blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/07/09/a-brave-girl/, https://lilliandarnell.com/2019/04/15/monster-sky/, and https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/04/23/queen-of-earth/. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Many years ago, a girl named Annabelle (Ann for short) wondered if her sister who was named Marchelle (nicknamed Martha) had seen a majestic bridge like the one Ann was standing next to.

“I wonder what’s over the bridge”, wondered Ann as her soon-to-be-famous imagination and creativity took over. At first, she thought it was an exquisite kingdom with a rainbow themed castle and a beautiful young princess. Ann liked the thought of that.

Secondly, Ann thought that it was a tropical paradise. Suddenly, Ann’s thoughts were interrupted by Martha. Martha said chuckling, “Wow, that’s an awestriking bridge. Did you know that many years ago, I saw a bridge just like it? Anyway, we’d best get home or Mother might worry.”

Ann said, “Yes certainly, sis!” Meanwhile, Ann and Martha’s mother June was making dinner. June thought, “I wonder what the girls are up to this evening.” Just as June finished her thought, Ann and Martha came through the front door.

Ann and Martha said together, “Oooh, something smells good. Mother, do you mind if Ann and I go upstairs?” June thought it was a great idea and said, “Yes, girls. Just make sure you’re back downstairs for supper.”

So Ann and Martha went upstairs. As soon as they were upstairs, Martha asked, “Do you want to hear the story of how I saw a bridge just like the one you saw today?” Ann squealed with excitement and said, “Yes, I would love to hear the story.”

Martha chuckled and said, “Ok, let’s begin.” “It wasn’t very long ago when I too wondered where the bridge led to. So, of course, I set foot on the bridge and walked on into the dark of night.

Soon, I saw a fantastical light up ahead and ran towards it. Suddenly, I saw it was a magical world. I was curious and asked a fairy princess nearby where I was. The fairy princess said that I was in heaven.

Intrigued, I asked her you mean as in the heaven you read about in books? And she chuckled and said yes, that’s the very place we are standing in right now,” Martha paused to catch her breath.

Ann asked, “How did you get back home then?” Martha said, “I just took a magical rainbow unicorn flying carpet back home. Well, that’s the end of the story.” Ann said, “Aww! I wanted to hear more!”

June called upstairs to Ann and Martha. June said, “Ann! Martha! Dinner is ready.” Ann and Martha said, “Coming!’ Meanwhile, a time traveler was watching them and she knew that Ann wanted to cross over the bridge to find out what was there.

After dinner, Martha had a story to write. So Ann went outside to go to the bridge and set foot on the bridge like Martha’s experience. So she skipped, hopped, and ran throughout the dark of night.

Suddenly there was a blinding colorful light. Ann walked right into the light. When she came out of the light, she was in a magical world. Ann’s curiosity led to ask a nearby mermaid where she was.

The mermaid said, “You’re in Mermaid Land, Heaven of course!” Ann said, “Am I really in Heaven?” The mermaid giggled and said, “Yes. Now I can send back home. Would you like to ride on a starfish?”

Ann said, “Yes, please!” By the time Ann got home, it was 4:00 am in the morning. So Ann lived happily. Many years later, Ann was 20 and she had written a story about her journey to Heaven.

By that time, Ann was a renowned published author. Her now-famous imagination and curiosity were written in books she wrote herself.

So if you see a girl named Ann or Anne, there’s a good chance that you might see her. If you see her, be sure to say hi to her.

That’s the end of the story. I hope you enjoyed!

Monster Sky

Hey, everyone! I got inspired by a dark thunderstorm cloud ( also known as cumulonimbus or thunderheads) up against a big (fir or pine) tree back in August 2018 to write a story about it. Here are some related blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2015/06/05/latest-weather-thunderstorms/https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/02/11/how-the-sun-came-to-be/, and https://lilliandarnell.com/2016/07/20/a-happy-world/. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

One day years ago, the Cloud King said in a powerful voice, “Have you finished pouring water down into the world yet?” And the Water Fairy said scared, “Almost, Your Cloudiness.”

The Cloud King laughed a loud, mighty, politely and said, “Relax! I’m not mad. I think the world is definitely getting tired of rain though. I do understand that you’re a water fairy and that’s what you’re meant to do.”

The Water Fairy said with a sigh of relief, “Thank you, Your Cloudiness! You have no idea what this means to me. Yes, I agree that the world is getting tired of rain but the world needs some kind of water too though. ” “Well, you could create lakes, rivers, puddles, and more for water”, said the Cloud King as he scratched his chin thoughtfully.

“Thank you, Your Cloudiness!” And so all was well or so they thought. Many years later, The Cloud King rumbled loudly and said, “Who took my lightning lamp?” The Lightning Fairy said scared, “I don’t know, Your Cloudiness! I thought I put the lightning lamp on your cloud.”

The Cloud King rumbled with anger and said, “Go find my lightning lamp now or I’ll make a violent storm!” So the poor Lightning Fairy went to search for the lightning lamp.

On the way, the Lightning Fairy flew into the Water Fairy (who was much older now) and so the Lightning Fairy said, “Hello, Aqua (the Water Fairy’s real name)! Have you by any chance seen a lightning lamp over this way?”

“No, sorry I haven’t. I’ll keep my eye out for the Cloud King’s lightning lamp, Summer (the Lightning Fairy’s real name) though.”, said the Water Fairy sympathetically. “Thank you, Aqua. I’m on my way to see Misty (the Cloud Fairy’s full name) and Raine (the Rain Fairy’s real name). “, said the Lightning Fairy longingly.

Meanwhile, the Cloud King couldn’t wait any longer and cursed the world by shouting, “Make a violent storm with loud sound and blinding light.” Almost immediately after he said that, thunder echoed on the Earth below as well as lightning striking the sky.

The rain came pouring down with the speed of light on Earth. Back at the Cloud Fairy’s home, the Lightning Fairy talked with the Cloud Fairy. “I’m sorry but I haven’t seen my father’s Cloud King’s lightning lamp, Aqua. Did you hear my father Cloud King cursed the world with a violent storm? Also, have you seen Raine yet?”, said the Cloud Fairy pitifully.

“Why, no! I didn’t know that, Misty. Thanks for telling me. No, that’s where I’m off to next. I guess I better hurry if I want to make to Raine’s home though. Goodbye, Misty!”, said the Water Fairy shocked and determined as she left.

Back at the Cloud King’s palace, the Cloud King was surprised at what he had just done to the Earth below. Sadly, there wasn’t anything he could do about it until he had the lightning lamp back.

Meanwhile, the Water Fairy had just arrived at the Rain Fairy’s home. The Water Fairy gently knocked on the door and a few seconds later the Rain Fairy opened the door. “Hey there, Aqua! I knew you were coming to look for something”, said the Rain Fairy calmly.

“Hey, Raine. You did, how so?”, said the Water Fairy quizzically. The Rain Fairy chuckled and explained, “You see, I borrowed the Lightning Lamp for one of my rain experiments but I see that the Cloud King beat me to it.”

“Oh, well. Are you done with the lightning lamp? I want to get the Lightning Lamp to the Cloud King right away”, asked the Water Fairy patiently. “Yes, I finished long ago with the experiment”, said the Rain Fairy as she gently gave the Water Fairy the Lightning Lamp.

The Water Fairy said, “Thank you so much!” as she left the Rain Fairy’s home and flew towards the Cloud King’s palace. Fortunately, he was asleep so she put the Lightning Lamp on the cloud as she left it previously.

The very next day, The Cloud King woke up to the Lightning Lamp sitting on the cloud like nothing ever happened. He gave a cry of joy having found it. Unfortunately, it was broken but the King decided to keep the storm and he had the power to control the violent storm.

After that, he gathered the Water Fairy; the Rain Fairy, the Lightning Fairy, and the Cloud Fairy together and announced that he found the Lightning Lamp. The fairies smiled knowingly and burst in celebration.

And everything worked out perfectly. Now the violent storm you have read about in the story is a thunderstorm, so if you ever experience a thunderstorm think of this story.

Sunset or sunrise clouds.

Pretty sunset clouds!

Poems Of Nature

Hey, everyone! As you know, March 21st is World Poetry Day. I’ve decided to write a poem and add a poem from last year and this year to celebrate. Here are some related blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2016/10/17/lillians-triple-poems/https://lilliandarnell.com/2014/03/13/easter-poems/,  https://lilliandarnell.com/2014/03/12/what-am-i-poems/, and https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/03/21/fun-poem-extravaganza/. I hope you enjoy!

Here’s the first poem I wrote March 21st, 2018:

A flower blooms in
the midst of winter
knowingly lasting

Forever running in
a sea of white
as the sun shines.

As its golden petals laid its petals
softly to its soft comfy bed as
it rests in winter.

Here’s the second poem that I wrote in March 21st, 2017:

Birds dance in the breeze like ballet dancers
Flowers flow from trees like a waterfall
Trees dance in the sea of grass

Here’s the third poem that I wrote today:

Flowers shine bright

through the gloomy winter

Into the glorious spring weather.

Flowers flow like a sparkling river

Through the snow and rain

As a welcoming robin ready to mate.

Flowers dance gracefully in the windy day

Of gloom and sunshine

Flowers thankfully drink water

from it’s thirsty roots.

Here’s the fourth poem that I wrote today:

Butterflies are dancing

In the ocean blue sky

Like a hummingbird floating

In an ocean

Of flowers dancing to water

And wind.

Here’s the final poem also from March 21st, 2018:

Water is a land
of freedom

Freedom is a gift
of emotion and pride.

While pride is a sea
full of joy.

Emotion is an ocean
full of joy and happiness
with anger and sad falling behind it

As water waves
like a sea of freedom
knowing its beauty awaits.

That’s the end of Poems Of Nature. I hope you enjoyed!

Annual Chromosome 18 Conference 2018 Part 7

Hey, everyone! I just got back from a trip to Baltimore for the annual Chromosome 18 conference. This blog post is a summary of what I did at the Chromosome 18p- conference this year. I hope you enjoy reading this blog post. In case you’re wondering, the links are Thomas’, Camilla’s, and Chromosome 18’s website.

Here are some similar blog posts: https://lilliandarnell.com/2018/06/15/my-adventure-to-surprise-part-1/ and https://lilliandarnell.com/2017/09/13/annual-chromosome-18p-conference-2017/. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

July 5th:

I woke up with my leg feeling sore from dancing hard the previous night. Anyway, I got dressed and ate breakfast and got ready to go for a walk around the Riverwalk. Camilla, Thomas, and I walked for about 30 minutes.

Afterward, we came back hot, hungry, and sweaty. So we ate lunch and eventually went down to the lobby. In the lobby, we waited until 3:50 pm for a Lyft driver to take us back to the airport.

At the airport, I was bored so I Facebook Messaged Macy while I was waiting to pre-board the plane with Camilla and Thomas. Right at 6:00 pm, we took off for McCarran International Airport.

During that flight, I wrote a story called A Brave Girl. (Click on the link to read the story). Anyway, I had Fritos, juice, and water on the flight. I also played games, read books, looked out the window, and took pictures.

On the way there, I saw tons of halos around the sun and a magnificent Nevada/Arizona sunset which was amazing welcoming us to Nevada. I walked around without holding Camilla’s hand.

I even went to the public restrooms all by myself.

Anyway, at 8:30 pm, we had plenty of time to wait so we took our time this time. When we finally sat down, I Facebook Messaged Patty and Macy letting them know we made it to Las Vegas.

At 11:00 pm, we preboarded the plane again. The plane was an old Southwest Airline plane. Once we took off, I was tired but didn’t go to sleep. Before I knew it, it was 11:50 pm and we were hovering over Reno.

At midnight, we got off the plane very tired. The airport was surprisingly very quiet and empty.

I even managed to walk through the whole airport without holding Camilla’s hand. Anyway, we made our way back to our car. Once we got some things unpacked, we all got ready for bed.

That is the end of our enjoyable adventure.

Gorgeous Flowers.

Pretty pink flowers.

Amazing flowers!

Along the riverwalk.

A Brave Girl

Hey, everyone! I wrote this story on July 5th inspired by a daydream I had for a year. The character’s name is based on Macy Miller (a close 18p- friend of mine). I hope you enjoy!

Once long ago, there lived a young girl named Macy Helens who was afraid to fly on an airplane. One day though, her parents who were named Hannah and William announced that they were going on a family vacation but they needed to take an airplane to their destination.

Hannah had made a smart decision to use this vacation to help Macy get over her fears of flying. So Macy was scared but she knew she had to overcome her fears eventually. So Macy agreed to go. They left the next morning.

First, they went through TFA (The Fairy Association which is similar to TSA) and Macy wasn’t even scared but she was proud of herself. Macy handled the searching for a gate number, waiting, and the walking quite easily. The hardest thing was getting on the plane but she told herself not to look down.

It worked perfectly. Once they were about to take off, Macy was afraid of the steep incline that what she did was look out the window for familiar sights. Macy saw circular rainbows, a beautiful sunset, and a gorgeous sunrise as well. She was very impressed. Finally, their flight landed and Macy was very happy and proud.

My Adventure To Surprise Part 13

Hey, everyone! I went to Surprise, AZ for the end of May/beginning of June with my grandparents (also known as The Romano Duo). I would just like to share my adventure with you. By the way, some of the times aren’t accurate. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy!

June 9th, 2018:

I woke up at 7:10 am and we got into the car at 9:00 am but we stopped by the store so Frank could get gas, Patty could get breakfast, and have fun. Anyway, at 10:00 am we were on our way.

The Motel 6 had some decent beds. I was really comfy at 7:10 am so I didn’t want to get up at all. I knew that I had to get up sooner or later though. Once I was out of bed, I was very relaxed and refreshed.

At 12:00 pm, Frank stopped at a gas station. I also ate my lunch when Frank stopped at the gas station. After 12:00 pm, we drove to Fernley and saw the Love’s gas station where Frank stopped for gas the last time.

I saw the mountains that hide Reno and Sparks shortly around 2:26 pm which is always awesome to see. Around the same time, we arrived back in Reno. This is where the 2-week vacation ends.

Selfie of me

That’s the end of My Adventure In Surprise! Thanks to Patty and Frank for making the trip a great experience!
