The Annual Chromosome Conference 2019: Part 1

Hey, everyone! I just got back to Colorado Springs from the conference on July 27th. This blog post is a summary of what I did at the annual Chromosome 18p- conference this year. In case you are wondering, these are Thomas’s, Camilla’s, mine, and Chromosome 18’s website.

July 18th:

I woke up at 5:00 am but since my mother, Camilla bumped the start of the road trip to 7:00 am, I attempted to fall back to sleep.

But since I couldn’t sleep, I simply rested until 5:30am when Camilla came and got me. Then I got most of my last minute things to pack out of our bedroom.

Thomas woke up shortly after I did and used his supposedly 1 hour of free time to go to the restroom while I used mine to take a quick bath.

Afterwards, Camilla started packing up the car (we like to call her Rosie for her red color) which took approximately 2 hours.

Once we got in the car, Camilla went to our local Sprout’s grocery store to grab some ice packs for our 2 ice coolers.

Once Camilla was done, we were on our way to Colorado Springs. We went through Sparks, NV all way to Winnemucca where we stopped for gas and to go to the restroom.

At one point, we went through Battle Mountain. I also had some homemade trail mix at one point. The homemade trail mix had golden raisins, marshmallows, chocolate, cereal, graham crackers, honey sesame seed cashews, cashews, dried apricot, dried banana, banana chips, dried strawberry, and dried pineapple. I ate half of it.

After that, we went almost all the way through the border of Nevada/Utah but we stopped in Wells, NV to get our lunch from the back of the car, get gas, and go to the restroom.

After that, we kept going on the highway. We drove by Wendover and switched over to the Mountain Timezone (Yay!!).

Then shortly after, we started seeing the Salt Flats. Then about an hour afterward, we saw some small sections of The Great Salt Lake.

After some time, we saw the Great Lake. Then we went off the highway toward Salt Lake City heading toward Provo, Utah.

Although, we got stuck in some traffic jams & construction halfway through Salt Lake City. After we got through the accidents, we were almost to Provo, Utah. When we arrived in Provo, the hotel we stayed in was in view.

The hotel was Holiday Inn Provo River/Springville Area. So after we got some essential stuff we needed out of the car, we headed up to our hotel room. For a little bit, we settled down.

We eventually went to a nearby Denny’s for dinner. Once we got back, it was 2 hours later. Then I got ready for bed and went to sleep at 1:00 am.

I had decided to use one of the hotel pillows up under the pillow I brought from home and that was very comfortable.

I had messaged Macy who is a very close friend of mine throughout the first part of the road trip.
